How can the “The Class of Civilizations” paradigm help to explain or inform the phenomenon of global terrorism?

Samuel Huntington’s seminal article titled “The Clash of
Civilizations” (1993) has had its share of scholars and
professionals debating its core tenets and assertions. Introduced
more than 20 years ago, the theory remains a continuing source of
discussion and debate, especially in the light of proliferating
global terrorism. In fact, this week we see the term rear its head
in present-day politics during President Trump’s trip to the
G20.
Using the readings, videos and podcast sources below, briefly
answer the questions noted. The sources include scholarly and
newspaper articles, a power point presentation, an interview with
the late Samuel Huntington, and an NPR retrospective on the article
and its continuing interest among scholars and others. The
diversity of resources is intended to help you glean a more
comprehensive understanding of the theory.
