You work as a team leader at an events management company that has been contracted by Toyota. Your team is required to plan and implement the launch event for a new Toyota Hybrid Cruiser designed and built specifically for Australian conditions. The event will have a festival atmosphere, including some VIP and public events and will be held over the first October weekend in 2020 at Melbourne’s Federation Square (Links to an external site.). Many dignitaries and VIPs will be in attendance, including the senior management staff from Toyota. The head office in Japan will have in attendance the CEO, CSR Director and Senior Managing Director of Finance, along with their families. The touring party will arrive Thursday evening at 11.45pm and depart Tuesday morning at 2.00am. Your role is to plan, manage, implement and evaluate the festival over this weekend. Week 6 • What image would you try to portray through the Toyota Launch festival and why? How does this tie in with Toyota’s current branding? • Who are some good sponsorship partners that would align well this image? Week 7 • Highlight 3–4 key logistical challenges for the Toyota Launch event. • How would you program the Launch event to keep the VIP and public events distinguished without interrupting the dynamics? Week 8 Having done a risk analysis, what would be some of the measures or contingencies you would put in place to mitigate or eliminate risks?
